Feel at ease in our care
At Mouth Matters Dental and Facial Clinic, we welcome new patients to our relaxed and comfortable practice environment. We understand that you may be feeling nervous, and that a visit to the dentist can be daunting. Please rest assured that both our clinicians and support staff are caring and sympathetic professionals. Our aim is to make your experience at Mouth Matters a positive and happy one. You are in safe and attentive hands.
Appointments
If you would like to join our practice as a new patient, please phone us, email us, or pop in to arrange a convenient appointment time. If you are looking for a routine dental appointment or a visit to the hygienist, you are able to book in immediately with the appropriate clinicians. Self-referrals are also welcome. On arrival you will be asked to complete your medical history. This is an important step and gives us an insight into any conditions or medication that may be of concern.
Meet the treatment coordinator
If you have treatment preferences or feelings of anxiety, our treatment coordinator is available for a chat. This is a non-clinical meeting to discuss your concerns, as they are familiar with all treatment options. You'll see patient photos and models, and receive personalised advice, options, and fees. Afterward, you can book a clinician exam or consider your options further.
Your examination
Your examination will consist of a full intraoral assessment and charting, together with screening for signs and symptoms of dental diseases such as oral cancer, gum disease, jaw joint disorders, and soft and hard tissue problems. All areas of your mouth will be looked at closely to ensure there are no causes for concern. We take radiographs, which are included in your examination fee. These are useful to detect any decay underneath existing restorations or in between your teeth, and to view the bone levels around your dentition.
Your treatment plan
Following your consultation, we use all the information gathered to create a treatment plan that is completely tailored to your needs. Treatment plans and associated fees for simple restorations will be given to you immediately and appointments can be booked accordingly. For more complex cases, treatment plans will be provided in the form of a follow-up letter, showing you the treatment choices, timelines and fees involved.
Visiting the hygienist
Healthy gums are the cornerstones of a healthy mouth. Most of our patients like to see our hygienists when they join the practice so their gum health can be examined and assessed. You will be given guidance and advice on how to achieve optimum oral health and keep your teeth in great condition for life. Our dentists can refer you for hygiene treatment, or you can also self-refer and book a hygiene appointment directly.
Photographs and models
In some cases, photographs and models will be taken, especially when treatment expectations and results are a priority. These are helpful to explain your treatment in full, and enable you to visualise your treatment planning and outcome in order to make an informed decision.
Follow up care
On completion of any treatment at Mouth Matters, you are welcome to continue to visit us for your routine care and maintenance. We would love to look after you.
