What is involved in the treatment?

Preparation

We start with a comprehensive consultation. When you come into the clinic for a Skinboosters treatment, we will cleanse your face before applying an anaesthetic cream to ensure that you feel as comfortable as possible during the procedure.

Treatment

We will inject very small amounts of the Skinboosters (either Restylane® Vital or Vital Light, depending on your individual needs) into the deep dermis of the treatment area, about one to two centimetres apart. Once injected, the gel flows smoothly and distributes evenly in the skin. Your treatment will take between 15 and 45 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area.

Aftercare

Dr Tschoepe will ask you to come in for a second appointment two weeks later to assess and document your results so that the regime can be improved, if necessary. Skinboosters have a proven safety record; they’re convenient and require little to no downtime, giving you immediate results without a long or painful recovery process. They can improve your skin quality for up to 12 months, and are fantastic for hydrating and rejuvenating your skin.

How do skinboosters work?

Skinboosters use a stabilised synthetic, non-animal version of hyaluronic acid (HA), which is a natural ingredient found in the skin that is essential to maintain healthy skin hydration. Each treatment involves a series of hydrating microinjections of long-lasting, stabilised HA – this soft, gel-like substance absorbs water and brings deep skin hydration to the treatment areas to boost firmness, elasticity and smoothness.

What areas can be treated?

Skinboosters are an excellent option to give your skin a wonderful, healthy radiance in the face, neck, hands, and decolletage. They can also significantly improve the appearance of acne scars or sun-damaged skin.

When should I see results and how long will they last?

The results of this treatment are progressive, so you will notice subtle and natural-looking improvements to your skin in the days, weeks and months following your treatment. These positive changes to your skin condition should last for between six and 12 months.

How many treatments will I need?

To enjoy the optimum results, we will usually recommend that you receive one start-up course of three sessions approximately two to four weeks apart, followed by regular maintenance sessions every six months.

Are skinboosters safe?

The Restylane® range of products, including Skinboosters, has been widely investigated and shown to have an excellent safety record. Restylane® has been used in over 28 million aesthetic treatments worldwide and has been a trusted brand for more than two decades. However, no treatment is without potential side effects.

Are there any side effects?

After a treatment with Skinboosters it is common to experience some mild redness, itching, pain, swelling, tenderness or discolouration at the injection site – these symptoms usually self-correct within 24 to 48 hours. Some patients report noticing some temporary lumpiness at the injection site.

What should I do immediately following my treatment?

Your skin may look red and swollen or feel tender and itchy immediately after your treatment. You should avoid touching the treated area for at least six hours, after which you can apply light make-up and gently wash your face with soap and water. We recommend that you wear a high factor sunblock (SPF 30 or above) and avoid sun exposure. You should steer clear of extreme temperatures until the initial swelling and redness have resolved – this means no saunas, sunbathing, solariums or extreme cold.
