What does the treatment involve?

image

Consultation

If you are interested in wrinkle reduction, we initially see you for a detailed consultation. We discuss the treatment, ask you about your ideal results and give you the chance to ask any questions.

image

Treatment

Using a fine needle, Dr Tschoepe injects small amounts of a specialised product into carefully planned areas of your face, targeting the muscles that create the wrinkles. We use an anaesthetic cream to numb your face and ensure you remain comfortable.

Results

Your initial results can be seen over the next few days. We see you for a second appointment two weeks after your first, to assess your results and arrange a top up treatment if necessary.

Revolutionary technique BEAUTIPHICATION™

BEAUTIPHICATION™ is a revolutionary injection technique using callipers, inspired by Leonardo Da Vinci’s concept of the “divine proportion” (phi ratio). This mathematical principle, used by artists and architects for centuries, is now applied to enhance your features. Dr Gabi Tschoepe can offer this tool, which relates to the golden proportion and Arthur Swift, who is one of the best injectors in the world.

Imagine a sculptor using precise measurements to create a masterpiece. BEAUTIPHICATION™ employs a similar approach. Using a specialised tool, we map out the ideal placement of dermal fillers and injectables to achieve balanced proportions, subtle definition and timeless beauty.

Frequently asked questions

How do wrinkle reduction injections work?

Wrinkle reducing injections temporarily put targeted muscles to sleep for three to four months. These injections have great effect in areas where ‘dynamic’ wrinkles are produced by continual creasing. The facial skin overlying the treated muscle will appear much smoother and relaxed. It can soften wrinkles that are there at rest by giving your skin a chance to repair, but cannot erase these static lines altogether. Probably most desirable is its ability to stop your wrinkles getting worse.

What areas can be treated?

The best results are usually obtained in the upper third of the face, specifically crows’ feet, upper forehead and the brow areas. Wrinkle reducing injections can also be used to lift the position of your eyebrows by a few millimetres and/or to soften dimpled chins and horizontal neck lines.

What happens during the treatment?

When you come into the clinic for this treatment, we will cleanse your face before applying an anaesthetic cream to ensure that you feel as comfortable as possible during the procedure. Careful measurements will be made and Dr Tschoepe will ask you to repeatedly frown or squint, so that she can see how your facial muscles are affecting your overlying skin. She will then inject small amounts of a nerve blocking product into your muscles using micro-fine needles. Dr Tschoepe will ask you to come in for a second appointment two weeks later to assess and document your results so that the regime can be improved, if necessary.

When should I see results and how long will they last?

You should see the relaxing effects of your treatment within two to 14 days. Wrinkle reduction injections offer different levels of results in individual patients. On average, most people see an improvement in the treated lines and wrinkles for three to four months after their treatment.

Are wrinkle reducing injections safe?

Wrinkle reducing injections cannot produce permanent damage or travel within the body to make you ill. The product we use attaches to the muscles it is placed in and does not migrate from there; the injection technique ensures that it cannot pass into your bloodstream.

Wrinkle reduction injections use prescription-only drugs that have to be prescribed by a medical professional, such as a doctor, dentist or nurse prescriber. Prescription-only drugs cannot be advertised, which is why you won’t find brand names on our website or information sheets in the waiting room!

Are there any side effects with the treatment?

The most common side effects of this treatment are bruising and slight redness at the injection site; some people report a mild headache, particularly after a forehead procedure, but these symptoms usually self-correct within 24 hours. Rarely, people have reported nausea, distant muscle tremors or a ‘flu-like’ illness, dry mouth, skin rashes, muscle atrophy, itching or an allergic reaction. Less than one percent of patients report eyelid drooping that resolves within two to ten weeks, or unwanted changes to the eyebrow position.

Choosing an experienced practitioner like Dr Tschoepe who has a proven history of successful treatments is important to minimise the risk of side effects.

What should I do immediately following my treatment?

For the few hours following your treatment it is important to gently exercise the treated muscles by actively using them, e.g. frowning and smiling as frequently as possible. There is some evidence to show that this helps to improve the results. At the same time, you should avoid touching the treated area for three to four hours to reduce the product accidentally spreading to neighbouring muscle groups. We will give you detailed aftercare instructions so you know what to do to help support the best outcomes from your treatment.
