Dental veneers have been on the scene in the UK for a while now, having been initially used to create big, white ‘Hollywood’ smiles. By big, we mean just that… big! Veneers were traditionally quite thick and needed a lot of preparation that required the removal of much of the natural tooth structure. The end result was often a very prominent look, usually in an artificial hue, which gave them the nickname ‘fridge doors’.
Fast forward to 2016 gone are the days of that huge American smile that looked so false. Thankfully, patients now seek a much more natural result and we’re pleased to say that the products available have followed suit. At Mouth Matters we always aim to enhance your own natural beauty, whether that’s through facial aesthetics or dental treatments, and the same goes for our veneers.
We use thin porcelain veneers that fit over the front surface of the teeth. Where possible, we avoid any preparation of your own teeth, as it is our ethos to retain as much of the natural tooth structure as possible. During your consultation we will advise you regarding tooth preparation so that you are able to make an informed decision whether the treatment is right for you.
So what benefits could veneers have for you? If you have imperfections – such as crooked, chipped, discoloured, or gappy teeth – then veneers can be used to hide and correct this. They can be used on a single tooth, or more if necessary, leaving you with a beautiful confident smile that looks so natural that no one will suspect a thing… unless you tell them!
