We all know that we should be brushing our teeth for two minutes, twice a day, but are you really brushing for long enough?
Most of us think we know how long two minutes is, it’s not THAT long is it… or is it?
So tonight, use the timer on your smartphone and time yourself when you brush your teeth… we reckon you’ll be a little surprised about how long you’re actually brushing for, because that two minutes feels like a long time while you’re brushing away!
To maximise those two minutes, we like to break things down into quadrants of the mouth and spend 30 seconds of focused brushing in…
– The top left-hand side
– The top right-hand side
– The bottom left-hand side
– The bottom right-hand side
Use your timer and really think about cleaning all sides of that quarter – the front, back, and chewing surfaces of the teeth – hold your brush at a 45° angle to the teeth as this is the most effective way, and don’t brush too hard!
